Gary Root, Rogel Fullon

Wood_Tech_Class

Wood Technology is a course which teaches basic skills needed in Cabinet Making, furniture making, and carpentry through hands on experience in the shop. It is part of the overall Working Hands program which gives young men from hardship backgrounds an opportunity to be discipled and learn a vocational skill.

Wood Tech students learn how to measure, how to read and make multi-view working drawings and they learn the basic steps in planning and making a project on their own. About 2/3 of their course is “hands on”. They follow a plan (working drawing) and use tools and machines in completing various projects assigned to them.

Emphasis throughout the Working Hands program is on building character in young men for the glory of God. Opportunities abound to demonstrate attitudes that honor God and reflect the Biblical mandate to work with all your heart “as unto the Lord” throughout the course. Quality workmanship, punctuality, teamwork and integrity are encouraged and rewarded.

COMPUTER TECHNOLOGY

Chito Belmonte

Computer_Class Computer Technology is a course that teaches the out-of-school youths not only on how to use a computer and understand how it works, but also to develop their character and become more responsible as God -fearing young people. The main focus of this course is not only on things about computers (Hardware and Software) but also on giving some basic information about Electricity and Electronics. Having an understanding about electricity and electronics may help the students to have a broader view about what they will encounter. As a troubleshooter, the technician must have an awareness and knowledge of the components and main parts of the computer. Included is some basic programming as an advance training course. Like other courses offered here at Working Hands, the students should have at least an 85% average for them to qualify for the advance course.

DISCIPLESHIP TRAINING

Rowell Arnaldo

Discipleship_Training

The Christian life is not only receiving and knowing Jesus Christ. There should be a continual process of learning and equipping in the truths of the Scripture for Christian maturity. Working Hands Discipleship has its goal of making a believer grow in Christ-likeness through teaching and equipping the students about the truths in the Bible and in the ways of applying these truths in life. The students are discipled by feeding them the word of God. This makes their beliefs biblically based and theologically correct through the class sessions by giving them practical advice and showing them by example how to behave as a Christian. In their 8-10 months stay, Working Hands does its best through the help of God, to show the students what a real Christian should be in mind, in word, in heart, and in action. That’s what Working Hands Discipleship is all about. All the glory to our God!

"Make it your ambition to lead a quiet life, to mind your own business and to work with your hands, just as we told you, so that our daily life may win the respect of outsiders and so you will not be dependent on anybody.”
